Times of Bereavement
The church and its ministers are always ready to offer a Christian funeral or memorial service to people with a Great Harwood connection, in St Bartholomew’s or at a crematorium or burial ground, whether or not your loved one was a regular churchgoer; it’s best to ask the funeral director to contact us to make the arrangements (they also pay our charges).

Part of the churchyard is set aside as a Garden of Remembrance for cremated remains and the ashes of any parishioner may be interred (not scattered) by arrangement. Their name is normally entered in our Book of Remembrance in church as there are no individual memorials in the Garden.
The churchyard itself is closed for burials but we are responsible for a burial ground in Hope Street, Great Harwood.
We have an annual Service of Thanksgiving to remember loved ones who have died with lighted candles.
Times of sickness and stress
Our Pastoral Team, supervised by the Vicar and Pastoral Assistant, keeps in touch with bereaved, sick, and housebound people, and they regularly take Holy Communion to private homes and care homes.
On request, we offer a ministry of prayer with the laying-on of hands and (if wished) anointing with oil.
