Visits to Churches are, for many people, an important part of a day out to any area. The reasons for people’s visits to churches are varied, but probably history, architecture, and faith are the main ones.
St. Bartholomew’s has been a place of worship for hundreds of years and visitors often comment on the prayerful atmosphere as well as its beauty and sense of history. So we welcome you to come along, explore the history, take time to relax and reflect in the peace and quiet of our beautiful Church.
Opening days are subject to change due to weddings or volunteer availability. See the church notice board, parish magazine, or website for more details.
Can you help?
In order to have the church open in this way we need a rota of people to help as welcomers. Can you spare a couple of hours occasionally to help?
The opening times are divided into two time slots: 11.00 am to 1.00 pm and 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm. There will be at least two people on duty at each session. For the church this is an important security measure.
Please contact me if you would like to help. I am sure that for you it will be very rewarding, to serve God in this special way.

The Communications Group want a new Church Logo for Letterheads, publicity, etc. Ideally it:
- Should be recognisably Harwood ( the clock tower is the only thing that comes to mind instantly – can you do better?)
- Should be recognisably Christian (but not specifically either of our buildings)
- Needs to reproduce well in black and white and colour, and on our fast copier which doesn’t do subtle tones!
If you have any ideas , sketches, please pass to the Communications Group, c/o the Parish Office or the Churchwardens.

Around the Diocese . . .
Blackburn Cathedral will be open on Saturday 11th July from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. This event will be a chance for us all to see what goes on inside the Cathedral, in public and behind the scenes, something of interest for everyone.
This year's Youth Conference will be from September 4-6 at Myerscough College in Bilsborrow, Preston. This event is for 16-25 year olds and is organised by the Board of Education. If you are interested in going, please speak to Colin or one of the Churchwardens.
This year's Diocesan Laity Conference will be held at Lancaster University on September 19 and 20.
Speaking at the Conference will be Canon John Holmes, formerly Canon Missioner in the Diocese of Wakefield, who is an inspiring and amusing speaker with the gift of giving ordinary people the confidence to do extraordinary things.
The weekend will include teaching and workshops, worship and encouragement, food and friendship, as together we learn how YOU can make a difference.
